What is music festival digital signage?

Music festival digital signage is a screen at a festival or live-music venue that plays the lineup, set times, stage map, entry rules and ticket links instead of a printed board. It runs from a web player on any TV, and organisers edit it between sets so a stage change reaches the crowd in seconds.

This board runs on

Any screen with a modern browser. There is no media player box to buy and nothing to install: you open a link on the TV, pair it once, and change what it shows from your phone.

It is authored at 16:9, so stand the TV the usual way and the board fills it.

Questions people actually ask

What are the 7 key elements of digital signage?
No standards body publishes an official seven, so treat any list you find as one writer's grouping. What a working install actually needs is concrete: a display, a player device driving it, a network connection, software to manage what plays, the content itself, a schedule saying when each piece airs, and one named person who owns updates. The last two are what fail in practice. A festival board with nobody on it still shows Friday's lineup on Saturday afternoon. Decide before the gates open who changes the set times and from which device, and put the day plan on a schedule so the stage slide swaps itself instead of waiting on someone standing in a field.
What is a good slogan for a music festival?
A slogan only earns space on a board if it survives being read at distance, so write it to fit the screen rather than shrinking the screen to fit it. Keep it to three or four words, put the festival name or the year inside it, and cut anything that has to be read twice. Then size it. The sign trade works to roughly 25mm of capital letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance, so a line read from 12 metres across a field needs capitals around 100mm tall. If the words will not fit at that height, they are not a slogan, they are copy for the ticket page. Give the space to the lineup instead.
What is the price of digital signage?
Price splits into three lines and only one of them recurs. The screen: a consumer TV is the cheapest way onto a wall, while commercial panels cost more and are warranted for longer daily run times, which matters if the board is lit from gates to close across several days. The player: a media stick, a small box, or the smart TV's own browser. The software: almost always billed per screen per month, so the number to budget against is your screen count, never your venue size or your audience. For one stage board running a few weekends a year, a consumer TV, a browser-based player and a single screen subscription is usually the whole bill. Ask any vendor what happens to your content the month you stop paying.
What is a digital signboard?
A digital signboard is a screen carrying the information a printed board used to carry, driven by software instead of a print run. The practical difference is the edit cycle: a printed lineup is fixed the day it goes to press, and a digital one changes in the time it takes to type. That is the whole case for one at a festival, where set times move, a headliner drops out, and the gate queue needs a different message at 6pm than at 11pm. Hang it landscape 16:9 above a bar or an entrance, and portrait where it stands in a walkway and people pass it side on. This board is free to open, edit and put on a TV with ChannelOS.
