What is a cocktail bar TV menu?

A cocktail bar TV menu is a drinks list shown on a television screen instead of a printed card or chalkboard. It runs from a browser, a streaming stick or a signage app, and usually carries signature cocktails and prices, happy hour times, beer and wine, and what is playing tonight. Prices change in seconds.

This board runs on

Any screen with a modern browser. There is no media player box to buy and nothing to install: you open a link on the TV, pair it once, and change what it shows from your phone.

It is authored at 16:9, so stand the TV the usual way and the board fills it.

Questions people actually ask

What is the cocktail menu?
A cocktail menu is the list of mixed drinks a bar sells, each with a name, its build or key ingredients, and a price. Most bars split it into signatures, classics and a short low or no alcohol section, then keep beer, wine and spirits on a separate list so the cocktails are not buried. On a screen, size decides whether it works at all. The sign trade rule of thumb is 25mm of capital letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance, so a drink name read from 6 metres across the room wants roughly 50mm caps. Keep each screen to six or eight drinks and let the board rotate, rather than shrinking the type to fit twenty.
How do I get the menu on my TV?
Three routes, cheapest first. Most smart TVs sold in the last few years have a web browser: open the page and leave it there. If the built in browser is slow or missing, a streaming stick or a small Android or Chrome device in the HDMI port is the usual fix, and costs less than one print run of menus. The third route is a dedicated signage player. Whichever you pick, spend ten minutes in the TV settings first. Turn off the screensaver and the sleep timer, because many sets ship with an idle auto power off (commonly four hours). Set picture mode to standard rather than vivid so small text stays crisp. Turn on HDMI CEC or auto power on, so the board returns by itself after a power cut.
What are the top 10 most ordered cocktails?
The same classics keep topping international bar trade surveys: the Old Fashioned, Negroni, Daiquiri, Margarita, Espresso Martini, Whisky Sour, Mojito, Aperol Spritz, Gin and Tonic and Manhattan. Treat that as a starting point, not as your list. The list that matters is your own. Export ninety days of item level sales from your till, sort by units, then check the top ten against gross margin per drink. Put the six or eight that are both popular and profitable on the board, highest margin first at the top left, where the eye lands on a landscape screen. Anything under about one percent of drink units is holding a slot it has not earned. Re run it monthly, because the seasons move the order.
What app can I use to display menus on my TV?
Anything that can hold a web page on screen will do the job, and the options split three ways. A browser tab pointed at a hosted menu page is free and works on most smart TVs, but nothing stops a customer or a cleaner closing it. A slideshow of exported images is simple, but every price change means exporting the file again. A digital signage app is the one built for this: it keeps the screen awake, reconnects after a power cut, and lets you edit the drinks list from your phone and watch the TV change. Check three things before committing: that it runs on the TV you already own, that editing does not need a laptop, and what it costs per screen each month. ChannelOS is one such app, and this board is a free, remixable starting point.
