What is a cake shop order board?

A cake shop order board is the screen that prices custom cakes by size and servings and states the notice period. On a TV it loops the shop's name, the size list with prices, the lead time as the offer slide, and the hours, so the questions the counter answers all day are answered on the wall.

This board runs on

Any screen with a modern browser. There is no media player box to buy and nothing to install: you open a link on the TV, pair it once, and change what it shows from your phone.

It is authored at 16:9, so stand the TV the usual way and the board fills it.

Questions people actually ask

What should a custom cake board show?
Size, how many it serves, and the price, in that order, because that is the order a customer decides in. Serving counts matter more than inches to somebody buying for a party, and a board that only lists diameters makes them guess. Then the notice period, which is the second question every time, and it belongs on its own slide in big type rather than in small print.
How do I price custom work on a public screen?
Publish the base price for each size and say clearly what it includes. Decoration, tiers and dietary versions are quoted at the counter, and the board should say so in one line rather than pretending a fixed price covers everything. A board that under promises and gets corrected at the counter costs more goodwill than one that says from and then explains.
Should the board show photographs of cakes?
Here, yes, and this is the exception to keeping photographs off a price board. Nobody can picture a two tier cake from a line of text, and the picture is doing real work in the decision. Give it its own slide with the sizes on a separate one, so the photograph never sits underneath the numbers.
How far ahead should I ask for orders?
Whatever your kitchen actually needs, stated once and honoured. Putting 48 hours on the wall and then taking a same day order teaches people the notice period is negotiable, which is how a Saturday morning becomes unmanageable. The screen makes it easy to change during a busy week, and that is the right use of it: raise it to 72 hours in December and put it back in January.
