## What is a hotel welcome screen for TV?

A hotel welcome screen for TV is a looping display on a lobby or in-room television that greets arriving guests and carries the details reception repeats all day: check-in and checkout times, wifi access, breakfast and spa hours, dining, and directions. It runs unattended from the TV browser or a small media player.

Boutique hotel and homestay front desks run this lobby board: welcome, rooms, amenities, dining hours and concierge.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does a welcome screen cost?

Price it as three separate lines, not one. The display is a one-off: any TV with a browser, or a cheap TV plus a streaming stick or mini PC on HDMI. Mounting and a reachable power point are the second line, and the one people forget. Software is the only recurring cost, and it is almost always billed per screen per month, so count the screens you will actually leave switched on before you compare vendors. A single lobby board is a very different bill from twelve floors of lift lobbies. Ask whether scheduling, remote updates and a second screen cost extra before you commit, because that is where per-screen pricing bites. This template is free to copy and remix on ChannelOS.

### Can I mirror my screen to a hotel TV?

Casting works when the phone and the TV sit on the same network and the TV supports Chromecast or AirPlay, but guest wifi commonly isolates devices from each other, which is exactly what stops casting in most hotels. Even where it works, mirroring is the wrong tool for a board that has to run all day: the phone has to stay awake, unlocked and in range, and an incoming call, a lock screen or a walk to the car ends the display. Use mirroring for a one-off, and for anything that must survive a shift change or a power cut, load the board as a URL in the TV's own browser or on a stick left plugged into HDMI.

### How to start TV in hotel room?

For a guest: press power, then the Source or Input button on the remote and pick the HDMI socket the player is plugged into, usually HDMI 1. For an operator, the aim is that nobody ever has to do that. Turn on HDMI-CEC so the player wakes the TV and selects its own input; it is branded Anynet+ on Samsung, Bravia Sync on Sony and SIMPLINK on LG. Then disable the sleep timer, screensaver and any energy-saving auto-off, and set the TV to power on to its last input. If the board runs in a browser, use a kiosk or auto-start app so a power cut brings the screen back with no remote and no staff.

### How much does a hotel TV cost?

It depends far more on size and grade than on brand. A consumer set is rated for domestic viewing hours; a commercial or hospitality display is built for long daily duty and usually carries a matching warranty, and hospitality models add things a lobby board does not need, like content protection and set cloning for in-room channels. Decide the size by legibility, not by the wall: the sign trade allows roughly 25mm of capital letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance. Stand at the furthest point a guest will read the board from, measure it, and check the smallest line on the slide at that height before you buy anything.

## How to use it

1. Open https://channelos.tv/t/the-lantern-boutique-hotel-41572d69-2544-4e18-8866-74fa7871b4cd and press "Use this template". Create a free account and the template opens in your own workspace.
2. Change the words, prices and photos in the editor, from a phone or a computer.
3. On the TV, open play.channelos.tv in its own browser, pair it from your phone with the code it shows, then publish the board to it.

It runs in the television's own web browser. There is no media player box to buy and
nothing to install. The first screen is free. Free screens show a ChannelOS banner
along the bottom of the screen. Any paid plan removes it.
