## What is coaching centre digital signage?

Coaching centre digital signage is a TV screen in an institute's reception or corridor that runs slides instead of printed notices: exam results and topper cards, course lists, batch timings, new batch start dates and admission enquiry numbers. Most systems play in the TV's browser or a media stick, so staff update the board from a phone.

Run by an Indian coaching centre on a reception TV: exam results, top rankers, courses and new batch dates.

## Frequently asked questions

### What are the 7 key elements of digital signage?

There is no official standard behind that number, and different vendors publish different sevens. In practice a coaching centre has seven decisions to make: the display, the player that drives it, the software that schedules content, the content itself, the playlist timing, the network the screen sits on, and the person who owns weekly updates. Get the content spec right first. The sign trade sizes type at roughly 25mm of capital-letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance, so a reception board read from 6 metres needs caps near 50mm. Keep each slide to one message and 8 to 12 seconds, which is about as long as a parent waiting at a counter will look.

### How can I create my own digital signage?

Four steps. First, use a screen you already have: any TV with a modern browser will run a web based board, and a 43 inch panel suits a reception where the furthest reader stands about 6 metres back, as long as headings are sized for that distance. Second, decide portrait or landscape before designing anything, because a 16:9 landscape board and a 9:16 portrait board need different layouts. Third, build the slides a coaching centre actually needs: a results hero, topper cards, a course list, new batch dates and one enquiry number. Fourth, put the screen online, point it at the board, and give one staff member the standing job of updating results within a week of each declared exam. This template opens as an editable 16:9 board on ChannelOS.

### What are the different types of digital signage?

Signage is usually grouped by the job the screen does rather than by the hardware. The common types are menu and price boards, wayfinding and directory screens, queue or token displays, promotional and advertising screens, notice and information boards, live data dashboards, and interactive touch kiosks. A coaching centre normally needs two of those. A notice board carries batch timings, holiday notices, fee deadlines and exam dates, and it changes weekly. A promotional board carries results, topper photographs and admission offers, and it changes in bursts after every result declaration. Running both on one screen is fine if you keep them as separate slides in one loop, so the notice content is not buried inside a results design.

### What is a digital signboard?

A digital signboard is a screen that shows the same information a painted, flex or vinyl board would, but driven by software so the content can be changed without reprinting. For a coaching centre the difference is turnaround: a flex banner announcing this year's rankers takes a day at the printer and is dead the moment next year's results arrive, while a digital board is updated the evening the result is declared. Two practical rules. Get written permission from the student or their guardian before you put a name, photograph or marks on a public screen. And keep the board honest: publish the rank, the exam and the year on the same card, because a topper card with no year on it stops being believed.

## How to use it

1. Open https://channelos.tv/t/rank-one-test-prep-results-27ef1602-678f-4287-a964-146ce32e112e and press "Use this template". Create a free account and the template opens in your own workspace.
2. Change the words, prices and photos in the editor, from a phone or a computer.
3. On the TV, open play.channelos.tv in its own browser, pair it from your phone with the code it shows, then publish the board to it.

It runs in the television's own web browser. There is no media player box to buy and
nothing to install. The first screen is free. Free screens show a ChannelOS banner
along the bottom of the screen. Any paid plan removes it.
