## What is a food truck menu display?

A food truck menu display is the screen a truck uses in place of a painted or printed menu, showing items and prices that can change during service. This portrait board is set up for a poke truck: bowls to go, a build a bowl guide, the menu with prices and allergy notes, and hours.

A poke truck stands a TV on its end at the window as its menu display: bowls, how to build one, prices and hours.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is a menu display better than a painted menu on a truck?

For prices and items that change, yes: a painted menu is fixed until you repaint it, while a display changes from your phone. A painted menu needs no power or connection, though, so many trucks keep the name and core items painted and use a screen for prices and specials.

### What size screen suits a food truck?

The size that fits your window area and reads from where the line stands, usually a few steps back. A common sign-trade rule of thumb is one inch of letter height for every ten feet of distance. Measure the space before buying, since a truck has little spare wall.

### How do I keep the display readable in sunshine?

Mount it in shade, inside the window or under the awning, and tilt it away from the sun's path at your usual pitch. An ordinary TV washes out in direct sun; a high-brightness outdoor display costs more but is built for it.

### Can one board run on screens on two trucks?

Yes. Pair each truck's TV and publish the same board to both. On a paid plan put them on one channel, so a price change reaches both trucks at once. Two screens need a paid plan, priced per screen, from $5 a month billed annually.

## How to use it

1. Open https://channelos.tv/t/poke-bowl-food-truck-tv-menu-portrait-b72949e6-7e89-4391-b31a-a372547514cf and press "Use this template". Create a free account and the template opens in your own workspace.
2. Change the words, prices and photos in the editor, from a phone or a computer.
3. On the TV, open play.channelos.tv in its own browser, pair it from your phone with the code it shows, then publish the board to it.

It runs in the television's own web browser. There is no media player box to buy and
nothing to install. The first screen is free. Free screens show a small "Made with
ChannelOS" badge in one corner. Any paid plan removes it.
