## What is an office TV announcement board?

An office TV announcement board is a screen on the office wall that loops internal notices for staff instead of a paper noticeboard: company updates, quarterly targets, current project focus, recognition and the date of the next all hands. Slides are written once and replay automatically, and any modern TV with a browser can display one.

An office or ops manager runs this on a floor TV: quarterly KPIs, sprint focus, shout-outs and a town hall notice.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best digital display board for an office?

Pick it by reading distance, not by screen size. The sign trade rule of thumb is 25mm of capital letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance, so a board read from 9 metres across an open plan floor needs roughly 75mm capitals, which caps how many lines fit on one slide. Work backwards from that: measure the furthest desk, set the letter height, then choose the panel that carries it. For text and stat cards, a standard 16:9 LCD television is the right tool. LED matrix boards suit short scrolling messages and are a poor fit for multi column layouts. Mount landscape for dashboards and side by side cards, portrait for single column lists.

### How can I turn my TV into a bulletin board?

Three routes, cheapest first. A smart TV with a built in browser can open a hosted board URL directly. A streaming stick or mini PC plugged into HDMI is the usual fallback when the TV browser is poor. A dedicated signage player is only worth it when you run several screens. Whichever you pick, do four things in the TV settings: turn off sleep and screensaver, disable any energy saving dimmer, set a power on and off schedule so the screen is not lit overnight, and confirm the device reopens the board by itself after a power cut. Then hold each slide 8 to 12 seconds, which is enough for someone walking past to read about 25 words.

### What are some ideas for a work office bulletin board?

Keep the whole loop under about 90 seconds, which is six to eight slides, so a person waiting for the lift sees all of it once. Fill it with things that change: the quarter's headline numbers, what the team is focused on this sprint, shout outs naming individuals, the next all hands date and time, new starters with a photo, facilities and fire drill notices, and the guest wifi. Give every slide an owner and a refresh date. A board with a stale number on it stops being read within a fortnight, and one dead slide makes people ignore the live ones next to it.

### How much does an LED display board cost?

Price depends on four things: pixel pitch, physical size, indoor or outdoor rating, and whether the panel is consumer or commercial grade. A true LED matrix board sold for scrolling messages is priced per module and climbs steeply as pitch gets finer, which is why it suits short text and not the multi column layouts an office board needs. For an indoor announcement screen the cheap path is a consumer television driven by a browser. Two things to check before you buy one: the duty cycle the manufacturer rates it for, since commercial panels are built for long daily runtimes and consumer sets assume a few hours, and whether the warranty excludes commercial installation. Many do.

## How to use it

1. Open https://channelos.tv/t/northwind-team-dashboard-dd457000-4bc1-4b72-97c2-35e630d62316 and press "Use this template". Create a free account and the template opens in your own workspace.
2. Change the words, prices and photos in the editor, from a phone or a computer.
3. On the TV, open play.channelos.tv in its own browser, pair it from your phone with the code it shows, then publish the board to it.

It runs in the television's own web browser. There is no media player box to buy and
nothing to install. The first screen is free. Free screens show a ChannelOS banner
along the bottom of the screen. Any paid plan removes it.
