## What is a hospital opd display board?

A hospital OPD display board is a screen in an outpatient department that shows consultation timings, which doctor sits in which room, department directions, token or queue status and emergency numbers, so waiting patients can read it without asking the front desk. It may be a printed panel, an LED unit or an ordinary TV driven by signage software.

Hospital and clinic front desks run this OPD lobby TV: doctor timings, departments, emergency line and a booking QR.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does a digital display board cost?

Split the question into three costs before you price anything. Hardware: a fixed-function LED token or acrylic board is bought once and can only ever show what it was wired to show, while a consumer TV plus an HDMI stick or a spare Android box costs about the same and can be re-edited any day. Mounting and a power point are usually quoted separately. Software: signage is normally billed per screen per month, so multiply by the number of TVs, not by the number of departments. If you already own a lobby TV, the cheapest working OPD board is that screen plus a browser page, which is what our free template gives you on ChannelOS.

### How many types of OPD are in hospital?

Hospitals usually run a general or medicine OPD, a set of specialty clinics such as surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology and psychiatry, plus review or follow-up clinics and a casualty desk that handles walk-ins outside consulting hours. Larger centres add consultant clinics on fixed days. For the board, do not list all of them. Use the sign trade's readability rule: 25mm of capital height for every 3 metres of viewing distance. Measure from the screen to the furthest bench, divide the metres by three, multiply by 25mm, then divide the screen's physical height by roughly twice that number to get how many lines fit legibly. Everything else goes on a second slide.

### What is a patient information display system?

A patient information display system is the screen setup in a hospital that answers what patients would otherwise queue at the front desk to ask: which doctor is sitting today and until when, current token or queue position, department and floor directions, published tariff, and health education between updates. There are two families. A queue or token display reads live numbers from the registration or HIS software and must be integrated. A content board plays a rotation that a person updates when something changes. Decide by how fast the information moves: if it changes minute by minute, you need the integration; if it changes when someone edits it, such as timings, tariff or a camp date, a playlist board is enough and costs far less.

### What are the NABH guidelines for hospital signage?

NABH expects the hospital to display, where patients can actually see and read it, the scope of services it offers, its tariff for those services, and patient rights and responsibilities, in a language the patient understands. Confirm the exact wording against the edition your hospital is assessed under, because the standards are revised. NABH does not prescribe typefaces or sizes, so use the sign trade rule instead: 25mm of capital height for every 3 metres of viewing distance. Two practical habits pass assessment more easily than a big screen. Run the board bilingually, English plus the local language, and keep a dated screenshot of what was displayed on each assessment day so the assessor can see it was current.

## How to use it

1. Open https://channelos.tv/t/medicare-plus-hospital-opd-f9423b44-f065-4c14-ae1a-c29885d495bb and press "Use this template". Create a free account and the template opens in your own workspace.
2. Change the words, prices and photos in the editor, from a phone or a computer.
3. On the TV, open play.channelos.tv in its own browser, pair it from your phone with the code it shows, then publish the board to it.

It runs in the television's own web browser. There is no media player box to buy and
nothing to install. The first screen is free. Free screens show a ChannelOS banner
along the bottom of the screen. Any paid plan removes it.
