## What is a flash sale countdown?

A flash sale countdown is the part of a sale board that says exactly when the offer ends, as a time, a day or the hours left. On this portrait board it is the last of three slides, after the headline discount and the tiers, so anyone who watches the loop knows how long they have.

A shop stands a TV on its end by the door: the sale, three discount tiers, then a slide that says exactly when it ends.

## What is on this board

The slides below are the template's real content, flattened to text. Remixing copies the
whole deck into your own workspace, where every line is editable.

## Frequently asked questions

### Should a sale screen show a live ticking timer?

Only if it counts to the real end. The FTC's 2022 staff report on dark patterns names countdown timers that reset or misstate the deadline as false urgency. A fixed end on a slide, such as ends tonight at 9 PM, cannot drift, stays true until you change it, and reads from across the store.

### Where should a portrait sale screen go?

Where people slow down: beside the entrance, at the end of the main aisle or next to the checkout line. A TV on its end fits a pillar or the strip of wall beside a door that a wide screen would overhang. Mount it high enough that a cart or a line of people does not hide the end time.

### How do I stand the TV on its end for this board?

Mount the TV rotated, then choose the matching quarter turn in the screen's settings in ChannelOS: upright, turned left, upside down or turned right. The board is designed in portrait, so it fills the screen instead of being a wide layout turned sideways. Check the TV's manual first, because not every set is rated for portrait mounting.

### Can I change the end time from my phone?

Yes. The end time is ordinary text on the last slide. Change it in the editor on your phone, publish, and the TV shows the new time. The same goes for the percentages on the tier slide, so extending a sale by a day costs one edit and nothing printed.

## How to use it

1. Open https://channelos.tv/t/electric-storm-flash-sale-screen-portrait-2dce0bff-9562-45d0-aa61-7da721a5573b and press "Use this template". Create a free account and the template opens in your own workspace.
2. Change the words, prices and photos in the editor, from a phone or a computer.
3. On the TV, open play.channelos.tv in its own browser, pair it from your phone with the code it shows, then publish the board to it.

It runs in the television's own web browser. There is no media player box to buy and
nothing to install. The first screen is free. Free screens show a small "Made with
ChannelOS" badge in one corner. Any paid plan removes it.
