## What is a restaurant tv menu?

A restaurant TV menu is a menu shown on a television instead of a printed board: dishes, sizes and prices that change from a phone. This board runs four slides for a chicken over rice counter: platters from $10.99, small and regular prices, a sauce guide from cool white sauce to very spicy hot sauce, and late hours.

A counter restaurant runs this as its TV menu: platters over rice in two sizes with prices, a sauce guide and late hours.

## What is on this board

## Frequently asked questions

### What do I need to run a menu on a restaurant TV?

A TV with a modern web browser, an internet connection and a phone. Open play.channelos.tv in the TV's own browser, scan the code with your phone and publish a menu board to the screen. A TV without a browser can use a streaming stick, and there is no media player box to buy.

### How should a sauce guide be written?

One line per sauce with what it tastes like and how hot it is, as this board does: white sauce creamy and cool, hot sauce red and very spicy, green sauce herby and mild. Add a line suggesting the strongest sauce on the side.

### How many dishes fit on one TV menu slide?

About six to eight lines with prices, read from a few steps back. More than that and the type gets too small to read from the line. This board fits six dishes with two price columns on one slide and gives the sauces their own.

### Can a late-night menu replace the day menu automatically?

On a paid plan, yes: a channel can schedule a shorter late-night board after a set hour. Without a paid plan you switch from your phone. Paid plans start at $5 per screen per month billed annually, or $6 monthly.

## How to use it

1. Open https://channelos.tv/t/chicken-over-rice-menu-board-landscape-96745cd7-59ba-479c-a658-137e54c4f050 and press "Use this template". Create a free account and the template opens in your own workspace.
2. Change the words, prices and photos in the editor, from a phone or a computer.
3. On the TV, open play.channelos.tv in its own browser, pair it from your phone with the code it shows, then publish the board to it.

It runs in the television's own web browser. There is no media player box to buy and
nothing to install. The first screen is free. Free screens show a small "Made with
ChannelOS" badge in one corner. Any paid plan removes it.
