## What is a aperitivo board?

An aperitivo board is a screen carrying the evening drink and snack offer and its hours. On a TV it loops the bar's name, the drinks list, the pairing at one price, and when it runs, so the offer is on the wall for the two hours it applies.

A bar running aperitivo runs this on a wall mounted TV: the venue, the priced list, one offer and the hours.

### What should an aperitivo board say?

The hours, the price and what arrives with the drink. Aperitivo is a promise about what lands on the table, so a board that prices the drink but not the food leaves the interesting half unsaid. Three words for the board of snacks is enough: salumi, olives, grissini. The hours belong in the same size type as the price, because the offer is the pair of them.

### Should drinks be listed with prices during a set offer?

Yes, on the slide before it. People choosing an aperitivo want to know what a negroni costs if they do not take the offer, and a board that hides the ordinary prices during a promotion reads as a trick. Two slides, one loop, both true.

### Does a bar screen have to be dark?

It has to be readable in the light the room actually has. Bars are dim, and a bright screen on a dark wall is the thing everybody looks at whether they want to or not, so a low key board with warm type usually sits better than a stark white one. If the screen is the brightest thing in the room, turn its brightness down rather than redesigning the board.

### Can the aperitivo board run only in the evening?

Yes, and it should. Schedule it as its own show for the hours it applies and let the ordinary menu run the rest of the day. A screen that shows an evening offer at noon is worse than no screen, because it is the same thing as the faded sign in the window: a message that is only true some of the time.
